Community Rail Week 2021
We are delighted to be joining CRPs and volunteers across the country for the very first Community Rail Week. With COP26 highlighting the need to bring about global collective changes to halt the climate crisis, it is vital that our communities are involved and driving this from the ground up. Greener transport is now recognised to be a fundamental part of what we need to do, with rail at the centre of that and so this week we will be Going Green by Train.
Pledge Day
On Wednesday 20th October, we will be holding a Pledge Day at Coventry Station. The CRP Officer and members of the steering group will be at the station from 7am - 1pm asking rail users to sign the 'I'm Going Green by Train' pledge card. We are encouraging our colleagues, project partners and community partners to sign the pledge and we have some special guests attending the pledge day itself. Photos of all those signing the pledge will be made into a video montage and digital posters for use in stations, on our website and through social media, to demonstrate the commitment that our communities have to tackling climate change. Keep an eye out also for our brand new Sustainability page on our website, coming online this week. All the details for our pledge day can be found on our Pledge Day Invitation.
If you would like to sign the pledge but can't make it on the day, please use our digital pledge card, available to download here. All we ask is that you send us a photo of yourself holding the signed pledge card, so we can use it in our montage video.
Sustainable Stations
Our second activity for Community Rail Week is our Sustainable Stations Workshop. Developed in partnership with Coventry Transport Museum, we will be at the museum on Saturday 23rd October to educate and inspire families to build their own Sustainable Stations.
Chairperson Role
The Heart of England CRP is looking to recruit a volunteer chairperson who has the enthusiasm and drive to support the CRP, can effectively chair steering group meetings and is able to work with all partners to ensure the continued success of the CRP. Previous experience in the rail industry is not essential and we encourage interested parties to get in touch to have an informal discussion about the role. The role description is available to download and has further details of the expected time commitments for the post. Should you wish to discuss the position further, then please contact HeartCRP@warwickshire.gov.uk
